Use telephone preference management service to avoid severe fines
How do we perform our TPS Check?
Our industry wide DNC (Do Not Call) list contains more than 1.8 million telephone numbers whose owners have requested to be removed from our marketing lists. We screen your list automatically whilst we check your list of phone numbers (Both Mobile and Landline) securely against the TPS list, which is updated daily.
We will return your original data list with the TPS information appended detailing if the number is on the TPS and the date the number appeared on the TPS list as well.
Why is it important to have a TPS Check?
There are currently over 23 million numbers registered on the TPS and cold calling any of these numbers could result in fine of up to £500,000. The ICO who issue these fines are actively pursuing companies that do not check their numbers against the TPS
In short, you have to make sure that you are calling only numbers you are allowed to.
How does the Telephone Preference Service operate?
The TPS operates on the basis that consumers register to opt out of receiving marketing calls. Failure by your company to suppress against the TPS is monitored by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and the ICO.
How often should you use the telephone preference management service?
You are legally obliged to check your numbers every 28 days to make sure any new subscribers are removed from your lists. You can do this through our TPS Checker service via either API (Application Programming Interface) or bulk upload via our web portal.
